Jahuay is a traditional song performed by Puruhá people for centuries, it allows improvisation, keep pace with the wheat and barley harvest and encourage the reapers. Is This musical tradition is practiced in June, July and August in the Chimborazo province. The verses express the way of thinking, history and memory of the Puruhá people. The future os Jahua has been put in jeopardy because many factors, among others: lack of social validation, ignorance, immigration phenomenon and the internvention of religious groups. This study aims to analyze the value of Jahuay and the reasons to create and develop a safeguard plan and the inscription of this cultural manifestation as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ecuador and UNESCO. Patrimonialization of Jahuay will contribute to the socioeconomic, symbolic and cultural development of the Puruhá people Ecuador.
