Design thinking is taken as an interpretative paradigm claiming the presence of widespread design skills, an expression of communities and their creative skills, mainly present in the area of intangible cultural heritage. In this specific context of cultural production, it is possible to observe changes that interact with "critical" project environments, such as public space, where the possibility of sustainable and collective creativeness representative of cultural heritage can be verified. These premises lead on to a debate on the role of the designer as a "facilitator" of processes in which the specific skills of "visualizing and visioning" are made available to communities. This role is verified as part of the current E.CH.I. Interregional project - Italo-Swiss ethnography for the enhancement ofintangible cultural heritage in the transborder area.
