Resumen

The article highlights the important relationship between intangible cultural heritage and cultural diversity. It considers the concept of intangible cultural heritage in a rapidly changing context as a result of globalization and the rise of social and cultural movements that cut across borders. It delves into the challenges that this global context entails for the protection of cultural coherence such as falling into a cultural conservatism, cultural trivialization or cultural overload etc. It searches the conditions, as awareness and policy models, that will enable groups to negotiate their new and ever shifting cultural positions
