Resumen

Urban regeneration initiatives that acknowledge the significance of local characteristics in preserving the cultural identity of cities have drawn attention to the preservation of intangible heritage. This study evaluates the preservation of aspects of heritage of Shimla city such as local characteristics, daily routines, traditions and existing community network amid ongoing urban regeneration which poses challenges to the heritage and identity of the city. Recognizing and valuing heritage could help conceive sustainable and inclusive urban spaces and devise ways to preserveShimla’s cultural identity. Also, citizen involvement can be effectively channelized for ensuring active participation of locals in its preservation.
