Resumen

In living heritage sites across much of rural Asia, there is an ongoing relationship between the community and its built and natural environment. Understanding this relationship through the beliefs and functions associated with these settings is crucial to discover why and how many of these built and natural heritage sites have survived over the centuries. Yet this connection is often ignored as conventional conservation approaches are increasingly accepted into the domain of intangible ‘cultural heritage management’.
