The goal of this study is to illuminate the value of Jinju Ogwangdae, which originated in the west part of Gyeongnam to be passed down in rural areas, and to figure out ways to develop the dance in further steps.Jinju Ogwangdae is a traditional mask dance performed in the area of Jinju it also has been a way of expressing ‘The Spirit of Jinju’ through artistic actions. Jinju Ogwangdae not just has its artistic values but also embraces a unique spirit of resistance as it was developed by grafting in various ways through linguistic descriptions.As a way to naturally induce communication and sympathy through the enjoyment of traditional culture by providing various opportunities of performances via Jinju Mask Dance festival, which is a ground for the past, present, and future generation to harmonize, this study suggests Ogwangdae Daedongje. |
