The Two Faces of ‘Involution’－Nongak of Korea and Nongakmu of China of the Present Age－

This article was written to make a comparative study of Korea Nongak and Nongakmu(Farmers’ dance of China’s Korean ethnic group). It is because some nations which owns common cultural heritage were conflict to make their own list as the UNESCO s intangible cultural heritage property lately. But their claims were only based on nationalism, there was no scientific research and understanding.Therefore, this study is not only focused on transmission but also current state of the nongak and nongakmu. In this process, the notion of "involution" is utilized to compare nongak and nongakmu.As a result of study, It is clear that nongak and nongakmu had transformed as a process of involution in the different country. Nongak has been creating the context continually based on the region and archetype. Also, nongakmu has been appropriating the text to make new text based on nationalism. These differences of the involution is caused by social and cultural difference of korea and china. And through these difference, we can know they each have go their separate ways.
