The Craft of the Baianas of Acaraje: narratives about the way of knowing how to do

The present article starts with the granting of the title of Cultural Heritage of Brazil to the Office of the Baianas of Acaraje in 2004. The central focus is the narratives of the owners of the immaterial nature that will be analyzed from the origin of the office s religious and ethnic identity. I also use the written sources (certificate, opinions, dossier) produced during the registration process. The chosen methodology was the participant observation carried out in the field work in the city of Salvador. The objective is to present the construction of the baianas de acaraje narrative based on the development of the arguments that justify the oficio as a cultural reference. I understand this as a black heritage linked to Afro-Brazilian religiosity.
