This study aims to paved the way to consider the artistic value of artist(the talented person) Lee Yong-woo s Life and dance who was the symbol of the legitimacy and identity of modern shamanism on the basis of shamanism of Gyeonggi-do Danggut. Lee Yong-woo is a descendant of Jaeincheong family, who served as the 11th dodaebang from generation to generation. Through long learning and honing the skills acquired from childhood, he prides himself on being a Hwa-raeng-i, does not give up on the life of a hereditary shaman family and continues his life as a artist(the talented person), and is represented as the best Hwa-raeng-i of his time in the first half of the 20th century. In addition, as a living witness of modern shamanism that raised Gyeonggi-do Danggut to the ranks of the intangible cultural festival, the research value of it is highly appreciated. However, Lee Yong-woo s sudden death in 1989, four months before the designation as a cultural property, and Hwa-raeng-i s artistic skills around 1990, were not handed down due to blood ties and due to the rapid decline of shamanic groups, transmission and preservation are also experiencing difficulties. This study aims to prove the artistic value through the life and dance of artist(the talented person) Lee Yong-woo, and to raise the necessity of research on the dance of Lee Yong-woo, who is in danger of extinction. Based on prior research and literature research, it objectively proved the traditional of the hereditary shamanism troupe and the importance of family lineage, and focused on analyzing the video and data of Lee Yong-woo s dance by selecting the JinsoeChum (Jinsoe dance) and TeobeoilimChum (Teobeoilim dance) which have the roles and functions of the representative Hwa-raeng-i dances. The artistic value seen through the life and dance of artist(the talented person) Lee Yong-woo is First, he contributed to the designation of Gyeonggi Danggut as Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 98. Second, Lee Yong-woo s dance has a tradition that has been passed down through the hereditary shaman family. Third, Lee Yong-woo s dance is artist dance based on shamanism. Fourth, Lee Yong-woo is a multi-talented artist. Fifth, Lee Yong-woo had a great influence on the creation and development of traditional dance. Today, many intangible cultural assets were possible because of the artistic assets that were preserved by the artists(the talented person). It is required that various efforts for creative succession to meet the needs of the times with animated discussions and research on the value and meaning of traditional cultural heritage throughout the re-examining lives of artist(the talented person) whose lives were art.
