Protection and Inheritance of the Traditional Sports Culture in Intangible Cultural Heritage of Shui Ethnic Group

The authors made a fieldwork by use of the methods of field investigation, interview, and so on. The result shows that traditional sports culture of Shui ethnic group has rich content and obvious characteristics. It is an important part of Shui s intangible cultural heritage, featuring common characteristics of other intangible cultural heritages, i.e. nonmaterial, ecological, "active", folk-custom and mass characteristics. However, with speeding up the course of globalization and modernization, traditional sports have gradually lost its original environment and even more on the verge of extinction. The inheritance is in difficult circumstances. Therefore, we must carry out comprehensive review and research for the history and status quo of Shui s traditional sports culture, set up an identification system for Shui s key traditional sports events to be protected and put forward the strategy of protection and inheritance, which will have profound significance for providing the theoretic basis for the protection and inheritance of Shui s traditional sports culture.
