Resumen

The samba de roda from the Recôncavo of Bahia, in this paper, is presented and discussed as a multidisciplinary phenomenon that makes reference to the experience and memory of the samba players to research the potentiality of the artistic and aesthetic learning and teaching, taking as a background the oral history of African descendents using the concept of musicking. Ethnomusicology, scenic and music education, oral history, and the theories of cognition, aesthetic perception and expression could form paths intertwined between academic knowledge and knowledge of oral traditions, building new perspectives for the continuation of songs, dances and rituals of popular cultures. The text proposes a look over the dynamics inherent to samba de roda, as an African-Brazilian scenic-musical-poetic expression, that perpetuates all other instances of everyday life through individual stories and collective memory, reflected in socio-cultural and political-economic relations. It traces a path through thick description and oral history of the ancient sambadores in dialogue with trans-disciplinary sciences to understand and translate the processes of learning, perception and musical creation, values, meanings, as well as their transformations along the life.
