This article addresses the theoretical and practical background of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH),beginning with a review of the construction of the ICH concept, its characteristics, areas of development and the risks that threaten it. After that, we review the legislation that affects intangible cultural manifestations at the international, national and regional level, detailing the different declaration mechanisms that rise from each regulations: registration in the Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, Representative Manifestation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and Intangible Cultural Interest Assets.
