TY - JOUR AU - Janaina Cardoso de Mello AB - The work seeks to trace the panorama of conceptual and practical discussion of what so-called styling as "material assets" and "intangible heritage", in his distinctive dichotomy and its possible intercession from the context of the city of Orange in Sergipe. It is used as a case study the interview conducted with Demar (Ademar), sculptor in wood, whose production creates, displays and sells at the Centro de Artesanato, having been awarded the title of "living heritage" by the municipal government for their craft. As the methodology resorted to recorded interview with semi-structured questions that addressed the sculptor s life, his art, his relationship with the city and local equity policies. In times of high-tech, Public archaeology should go to communities, hear their demands and get means of information sharing, registration and preservation of cultural heritage, which itself features of their modus vivendus, valuing diversity and survival of art.
