Akdik AB - Nazidotlessm Hikmet, in Simavne Kadidotlesssidotless Oǧlu Şeyh Bedreddin Destanidotless which was first published in 1936, presents a popular hero model with reference to the image of "social bandit" that takes place in folk narratives. The phenomenon of "social bandit" that Eric Hobsbawm brought forward includes the narratives of popular heroes who rebel against the oppression and cruelty of an authority and fight the injustice. In Turkish folk literature, the narratives of heroes who act as "social bandits" like Köroǧlu, Pir Sultan Abdal and Dadaloǧlu considerably overlaps with the Na\textasciicircumzim Hikmet s narration on Şeyh Bedreddin. Hence, one could discuss the text which is composed by Nâzidotlessm Hikmet and the narrative on Köroǧlu in conjunction with one another as an example to the reflection of oral tradition to the written literary text. Köroǧlu, who is mentioned as an ordinary Celali rebel in historical sources, reaches the level of a popular hero in oral culture. Correlatively, Şeyh Bedreddin, represented as a rebel against Ottoman power in historical sources, is fictionalized as a popular hero acting as a "social bandit" in Nâzidotlessm Hikmet s text. Nâzidotlessm Hikmet regenerated a socialist hero within traditional culture with the aim of forming a resource to Marxism, which was assumed as a new ideology in Turkey in 1930 s. At this point, invention of tradition, which is another conceptualization of Eric J. Hobsbawm, comes to the fore in Simavne Kadidotlesssidotless Oǧlu Şeyh Bedreddin Destanidotless. In this article, it comes to light that, colleteral with Köroǧlu who transformed into a hero in accordance with the needs of the places he lived in, Şeyh Bedreddin also transforms into a social bandit who revolted against tyranny when he was a character negated by history. In conclusion, the interest that is shown by society implies that the "social bandit" image which is regenerated through Nâzidotlessm Hikmet s Şeyh Bedreddin is still being acknowledged and embraced by people.
