The festival is the oldest of Brazil with this Marian invocation, occurring since the year 1811, thus being a local religious and cultural reference. The Navigator s party tradition is a portuguese heritage, coming from the Azorean s families who occupied the region in the mid-eighteenth century. The main objective of this study is to describe the party, some symbolic elements in the perspective of a Luso-Brazilian intangible heritage, demonstrating similarities to the festivities in honor of Our Lady of the Navigators that still occur in Portugal. The work also aims to reflect on the possibilities of tourism in this case specifically the religious tourism, historical and cultural value site by Navigator s party, which gives expression and visibility fishing village every year. The 2nd day of February when we celebrate the Navigator s party is the time of the year when the city receives more visitors, mainly motivated by devotion, paying promises by making requests to the Virgin Mary, manifesting their faith through symbolic practices and different socio-cultural experiences that characterize a solemn date on and peculiar cultural memory of the inhabitants of Sao Jose do Norte and region. In this study, tourism stands out as an important activity that can contribute significantly to the continuity and vitality of the Navegantes party and its protection as a cultural heritage, which consolidates identities and local social memory.
