AB - Slovenian field and house names in the region of Carinthia were added to the Austrian list of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage in 2010. Due to a favourable media response to Slovenian names as cultural heritage, the consideration of preserved domestic Slovenian names took a positive turn. Since place names had been a topic bearing a particular political load for decades, the turn towards cultural consideration was all the more important.
