Historic centers are more than an ensemble of heritage buildings; they are the summary of built heritage and its intangible component (history, social behavior, etc) which grants significance to the first. In the search of a more comprehensive view of built heritage a tool called Value Maps that pretends to link nonmaterial heritage to a GIS system in order to find how it affects an specific monument or a historic centre. This tool was tested in the historic town of Cuenca-Ecuador, mapping festivities and vocational uses. The information gathered by the tool become an input to establish broader ascribed values in the value assesment section of a newly created Inventory System (Registry and Catalogue Fiches, VlirCPM Project) for the city.
