This article uses literature research and inductive analysis, and based on theme and meaning of traditional auspicious ornaments, there exists four categories of traditional auspicious designs; mythological animals, buddhist mythology, precious antiques, plants and birds. The outcome indicates that woollen carpets of different ethnicities in different regions, using these four categories of traditional auspicious designs alone or in combination in the form of arts and crafts, carry on and spread the auspicious culture of ancient China.
