This could ultimately affect the cultural heritage protection foundations if its recognition is not made in line with those foundations, which appears to be the case nowadays. Although there are many, highly fragmented tendencies, this article will focus on those that have been assimilated and accepted to a higher extend, such as cultural landscapes, the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, the concept of community, and memory. The approach that we offer on these trends differs from the usual approach taken by the patrimonialism historiography. Our aim is to shed light on the ultimate objective of this article, which is to express our absolute concern at the progressive dismantling that our protection system is undergoing, since these trends are playing the sad (and in most cases unintentional) role of alibis to delegitimize and invalidate the system. a1988-7213
