As the \textlessAct on the Preservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage\textgreater was proclaimed in 2016, interest in traditional knowledge increased. While various results have been accumulated and research is being conducted, observations have not been made on the concepts, classifications, and types of traditional knowledge. This article organized the concepts of traditional knowledge as applicability, utility value, potential for change, purposefulness, possibility of transmission, and interpretations of nature. Also, traditional knowledge was mainly divided into traditional knowledge on the subject of nature and traditional nature centered on human relationships and these were respectively subdivided into informative knowledge on nature itself , interpretative knowledge on information regarding nature’, ‘information on the development and utilization of nature’, ‘knowledge on the measurement and surveying of nature’, ‘nature naming knowledge , ‘traditional knowledge on analogies in human relationships’, ‘traditional knowledge that establishes human relationships , and ‘family-focused traditional knowledge’. Traditional knowledge was constructed into the four stages of the existence-accumulation-utilization-transmission of subjects. Traditional knowledge requires the recognition of subjects above all else and this may include individual, group, or official organizations. Specialized groups are formed for the purpose of financial profit and thus have an occlusive nature and pass down specialized traditional knowledge and this demands our interest. Description is as important as the surveying and collection of traditional knowledge. While the subjective interpretations of researchers are also important, it is necessary to make descriptions that take into consideration the distinct characteristics of regions in which the relevant traditional knowledge is passed down and the words of people who pass down the relevant traditional knowledge should be recorded intact. Clear concepts regarding traditional knowledge should be established along with research methodologies. a1598-4893
