In order to know the relevance of these cultures in Ecuadorian literature, an information search was carried out in 240 articles published in scientific databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Latindex, Dialnet and Google Scholar, of which 32 were selected that are related to the importance of ancestral knowledge in Ecuadorian education, with emphasis on its role in literary development, strategies for the development of literature in intercultural schools and its relationship with academic performance, The results show that ancestral cultures have been relevant in areas such as natural sciences, mathematics and literature, in the latter because the literary expressions of the Andean peoples reflect part of the culture and beliefs of these peoples, however, despite its importance and the existence of multicultural schools, there is a loss of identity by their language, due to disuse, which puts the preservation of the cultural heritage at risk, which is why literature is essential for the recognition of native languages and the maintenance of the cultural identity of the indigenous Ecuadorian peoples. a2550-682X
