A qualitative methodology was used by conducting document reviews and assigning data sets to theoretical categories.  This allowed the interpretation and explanation of the empirical data obtained through the application of techniques such as individual interviews, focus groups and observation. As a result, countless examples of historical and cultural wealth dating back to colonial times were collected. Additionally, socio-economic and cultural dynamics that play a vital role of creating sense community amongst its habitants were clearly identified. This study can be useful for some disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, history, politics, tourism and others, since it generates information that will contribute to the revaluation of intangible cultural heritage. The study will also constitute a significant contribution to the diversification of the tourism potential, and improvement of the social, economic and environmental conditions of the community.
