UNESCO has modified and tightened its policies of world intangible cultural heritages. In this context, most countries of the world try to protect and introduce their cultural properties to preserve their cultural identities and raise their competitiveness in the world. However, in the true sense of the meaning that establishes their cultural identities, the intangible cultural heritage should be studied as aspect of cultural diversities that helps the cultures more abundant. This study shows the transmission and preservation of Korean dance cultural heritage as one of important world intangible heritages that UNESCO designated, and the study insists the dance should be subdivided by expanding dance performing field. Moreover, the Korean traditional dance should be revved up as a culture, and, as a performing art, it should be studied as a creative art form, too. I, as a researcher and dancer, introduce Gangneung Danoje Festival as a great example of Korean laminating culture and suggest ways to vitalize dance performing art. This research, based on Korean traditional dance, tries to secure diversity of cultural aspects from creative work on a stage. To do that, the festival shouldn’t be limited in specific space and time, but it must be spread and express its proud and precious cultural heritage to new space and new stage. To vitalize dance culture, studies of various methods are needed with tradition and creativity and popularity and artistry.}, volume = {30}, number = {3}, pages = {263-281}, issn = {1975-8502}, }
