AB - The primary purpose of this text is to reflect on the history of the relatively novel concept known as «Intangible Cultural Heritage» (ICH). It also focuses on some of the implications associated with the concept’s historical precedents which have shaped its modern definition, thus revealing the continuities and departures surrounding this new expression with a rich historical background. La intención fundamental de este trabajo es reflexionar sobre la historia del contenido que se expresa bajo el reciente concepto de Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial (PCI). Asimismo, se dedica atención a algunas implicaciones que se han asociado a varios de los conceptos que le han precedido históricamente y que han incidido en su definición. De esta manera, se aprecian continuidades y rupturas en torno a una nueva expresión con una larga historia previa.
