Especially, the island area is a place in which its unique culture is well formed due to the geographical isolation from the lands. It is considered that the representative culture of the island area is Wido-Ttibaennori(designated as Important Intangible Cultural Heritage 82-3), at which the villagers actively participate together. Since Wido is a marine accidents-prone area, the local residents always have the fright and fear of the sea. However, the way how the residents of Wido overcome fear through Ttibaennori, which reinforces the power of solidarity instead of frustration, gives a great deal of implications to the modern society, which is overflowing with individualism and dehumanization these days. In this regard, this study aims to present the process in which the Wido residents sublimate their wishes through Ttibaennori and to help understand that music plays a role of harmony and coexistence. In addition, it is designed to meet the requirements of the Revised National Music Curriculum of 2015, which is to strengthen creative and converging educational competency and to guide in alignment with other art fields and subjects by investigating a variety of approaches such as territorial, historical, industrial, cultural characteristics, and others. The objective of this study is to derive the role and value of music from examining the lives of the village residents who have made regional music culture as part of their lives. We expect further research, which is educationally applicable, to be conducted through broadened recognition of the value of folk culture containing a regional mentality. a1976-3522
