In particular, since North Korea s Nationalism (joseonminjokjeiljuui) became an important ruling ideology in the 1980s, promotion policies such as the restoration of traditional holidays were widespread, and in 2012, the North Korea government created laws related to nonmaterial cultural heritage. One of the biggest features of North Korea s nonmaterial cultural heritage is that it is surging in areas related to food culture. This trend of nonmaterial cultural heritage policies requires deeper attention in that it reflects the life-culture of North Koreans, along with understanding a facet of the ideology to maintain its regime. Therefore, the study of North Korea s nonmaterial cultural heritage should be an opportunity to improve a understanding of the culture itself that the North Koreans have been transmitting, along with analyzing of policy actions at the upper level. a1229-6112
